March 11th became a big day for Japanese people since the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan two years ago this day.
Yesterday me and my friends (we have a group call tsuru project ) gathered in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and had an origami tsuru installation and origami work shop as a memorial.
It was a bright and sunny day and it was so peaceful to just watch our colorful origami and ornaments swinging in the wind!
The circle ornaments are made by the kindergarten kids and teacher in Fukushima, Japan.
Thank you everybody who stopped by yesterday and made origami with us!
And big thank you for everyone around the world who helped and supported Japan when it was in the darkest days!
Last night was our closing party for Captain Canoodle (Sara-Varon, Eun-ha Paek and Me) at Desert Island Comic Store in Brooklyn. And we made those Monster cookies for the event. All the monsters got eaten and made everybody really happy! Thank you for coming out last night!
Eunha-Paek, Sara Varon and I have been collaborating on a project for a while.
We have a group call Captain Canoodle! http://www.canoodle.milky.org/
This Window display is our first public collaboration!
Come and see, don’t miss it. We are baking monster cookies for this event!!!
Happy Holidays Everyone!
I’ve been working on this project since late summer and finally it’s done!
It’s a holiday installation in a department store in Hong Kong.
I designed the background and the characters, and some products for their holiday season. Here are some pictures and the original sketches!
Original sketch for the installation!
It’s a very interesting feeling when you design something in 2D on paper, then it goes out of your hands and someone else fabricate them in 3D life size installation. I have never seen my characters in life size which I’m super excited about! Hope kids in HongKong will enjoy this decorations!!!
If you know anyone in Hong Kong please pass it along.
